Challenges

Occasionally I’ll think of ways to challenge myself in interesting ways. Not all of these may be speedrun related, but most of them probably are.

GameCube Gamut

This is a long running goal to complete every single GameCube game officially released in North America. This challenge isn’t treated as a grind, but more as a compliment to other speedrun and randomizer related content. This challenge is also combined with RetroAchievements for as many games as possible, adding another small flavor to each playthrough.

2024 Speedrun Challenge

For 2024 I gave myself a particularly difficult challenge at the surface level, learn a new speedrun every month. None of the games done for this could be something I had done as a speedrun in the past, even a single time. This meant learning from the ground up a game and category, challenging myself to hopefully get some kind of goal time in a very short time.

This ended up stopping at only 8/12 runs, but I would consider it a success in at least helping find and solidify the kinds of speedruns I truly enjoy. After a long period of burn out with certain games, having a break to rediscover what I really like was a big help in pushing forward to future goals.
